I made a bag for a friend who shares my love for chocolate lollipop fabrics.
I use my bag to hold my sewing tools and notions in.
She fell in love with it when she saw mine at our quilting retreat this summer, so she requested one for herself.
She sent me a big stack of fabrics, so I thought it would be cool to make this into a trade. She sent me some fabulous dots and basics that I’ve never seen before, so I’m excited to find creative ways to incorporate these fun prints into my stash.
With my busy work schedule these days, it’s been awhile since I’ve done any sewing, so I was pleasantly surprised when this bag took me a little more than an hour to make. Relieved I still remember how to sew!

Well Sara beat me to it cos I was gonna say it’s like riding a bike, great minds lol. Your notion bags are fantastic and a great way to store your sewing tools – I like the addition of the yo-yo flower (sweet touch) and the happy lollipop fabrics always work a treat. The stash of fabrics you received are gorgeous though that top-most polka dot steals the show in my eyes. It’s great to put the pedal to the metal again after a break, makes you realise how much you enjoy something huh :0)

I really like the flat bottom on these bags. The flower embellishment is cute! Great fabrics, too.
They’re so cute! I just fall in love with “chocolate” all over again! So nice!
They’re wonderful! I love the clip-y handle, what a great way to easily find it (clipped to a bag handle, chair back…EXCELLENT!) when you’re sewing at home OR away. And really, what could be better than AMH fabric?

How difficult is it to do a zipper for the bag? Are you turning it inside out and then top stitch the rest? I am curious because I have left over embroidered jeans my daughter has blown the knees out of and was thinking they would make great purses.
It’s not difficult at all to do a zipper for a bag, Kathy. I always use the technique I shared in my Simple Makeup Bag tutorial: https://terrisnotebook.wordpress.com/2010/10/06/simple-makeup-bag-tutorial/
You sew the zipper to each side of the outer and inner fabrics, lay out the bag inside out so the outer fabrics are RST and the inner fabrics are RST, and sew all the way around the entire bag, leaving an opening to turn the bag right side out. Check out the tutorial for a photo illustrating this.

Oh wow, I absolutely love these! Is there a tutorial on how to make these somewhere? I often have trouble adding multiple fabrics to the same project. To me it never looks quite right. These look great, though! And it would be really handy to have a bag for my notions.

I may be designing a bag for a tutorial. Maybe I can adapt this idea. Would that be okay with you? In particular, I like how you do the strap to the zipper. 🙂
