I’ve never been good at looking back. I’m the eternal positive thinker, so I’m always looking forward. 2012 was a very productive year for me, so I wanted to reflect on some of the things I accomplished.
School:
In the Spring semester, I took Color Media, Typography, and Intro to Web Design. I finished those classes with new skills in painting, designing with color and type, page layout, html and css coding; a few cool projects, my own logo, and my own domain and website to share my graphic design and illustration work.
In the Summer semester, I took Print and Design Production and Intro to Digital Photography. More cool projects, including the start of my butterfly obsession and field guide art book, which led to my stationery.
I learned the ins and outs of the printing world, from offset to relief to intaglio printing. I also learned how to screen print, and how to use my DSLR camera.
Learning to screen print.
In the Fall semester, I took Illustration, Electronic Illustration, Graphic Design and Advanced Web Design. Many more cool projects I’m proud of and lots of new traditional and digital illustration techniques and web skills to master.
Sewing Patterns: I released seven new sewing patterns over the course of the year, including a stuff sack, a checkerboard set, a yoga matt, a shopping tote, makeup bags, a handbag, and stuff baskets.
Fabric Designs: I experimented with fabric designs using indie-printer Spoonflower.
(my candy and orange prints)
Stationery Collections: I launched my new Stationery venture, with three collections centered around field guides of butterflies, leaves, and fish illustrations. I’m so proud of all the work that went into this project, and I’m excited for the potential it holds.

I had a page from my sketchbook published in a textbook called A Guide to Visual Communications by the Cambridge University Press in Melbourne, Australia.
Life: My husband had eye surgery. He’s doing great, btw.
My Angel cat had surgery to remove a cancerous lump. She’s doing great too, even though it’s still growing.
I was lucky to go on adventures throughout the year, spend some time at my parent’s lake house, visit a few museums, soak up the fresh air at the botanical gardens, and do a lot of hiking too.
It was a year full of wonderful opportunities, accomplishments and adventures, for which I am very thankful. I am excited for the great things 2013 has in store!
I hope you had a fabulous 2012 and look forward to an even better 2013 too. Thank you for your friendship and for stopping by to visit with me!
